Showing up for Newark

Over the three weekends during the last five months, men from All Kings have spent the weekend in Newark, New Jersey, in collaboration with Inside Circle and the HUBB Arts and Trauma Center.

Led by the master facilitators of Inside Circle, each weekend has been an opportunity to bring together men from New York City and Newark, to seed a new circle of support and empowerment for young men in Newark.

Men from All Kings participated in the weekends as staff and support facilitators, and, as in all of our events, had a chance to grow and heal ourselves.

The HUBB has been working on the ground in Newark for over 15 years. Their unique approach provides wrap-around services and interactive programming that address the wholeness of young people, using proven vehicles, such as collaborative music production and art therapy, to address social and psychological challenges. It was an inspiration and an honor to pass time in their space and build together.

You can read more about HUBB here. Consider supporting their efforts. We’re looking forward to more collaborations.

Inside Circle was founded in Folsom Prison in California. They have been our guides and elders since the beginning of our brotherhood, and we are lucky to be in relationship with them. Click here to see a documentary about their work.
